can organise its own "tapas"
route. "Tapas" tasting
is a deep-rooted tradition in
the Granada province offering
you the chance to try out a
wide range of local specialities.
Without forgetting that in the
bar areas of restaurants you
can also try the "tapas".
Santísimo
street ROUTE. With out
a doubt this is one of the most
popular streets for "tapeo"
in Motril. It is located in
the centre of the town and the
tapas bars start just at the
Chafino square and it finished
at the Francisco González
Carrascosa Avenue, where you
will be able to taste some of
the most typical tapas such
as dried octopus, roasted ham,
cured ham, broad beans with
cured ham, fried aubergine,
spicy sausage… This is
an area where youngsters meet
up to "eat" before
going to fashionable pubs to
dance until early hours.

Santísimo Street

wine and local wine in barrels)

Nueva,
Princesa and Piqueta Streets
ROUTE. In the heart of
the town, these establishments
are the oldest and the most
traditional and classical in
Motril. There you will taste
paella, meat in tomato sauce
and the best delicatessen meats
of the town. Also the excellent
position in the same shopping
centre makes these bars perfect
for those who prefer to wait
shopaholic friends nearby.

Salobreña
Avenue up until the cinema,

ROUTE. This is a fantastic
area too to taste delicious
tapas such as: Salmorejo (similar
to thick gazpacho), Spanish
omelette, meats and typical
products from the Alpujarras.

Acosta Avenue (known as Sáez
Street), Cuevas Street and surroundings
ROUTE. Well known bars
to eat quisquillas (typical
small prawns which are unique
from Motril) and special and
typical meats prepared in a
traditional way.
- La Gamba in Rodríguez
Acosta Avenue (famous for
serving the coldest beer in
Motril)
- Los Caracoles in Pedro
Victoria Street (with a
list of "tapas" you
can choose from).
- Los Faroles
- Mesón Antequera,
in Cuevas Street (tapas
of meat)
The
Port area and Santa Adela neighbourhood
ROUTE. The best place
to try the great variety of
fresh fish straight from Motril's
fishing harbour, served in any
of the bars or restaurants.
"Tapas" such as fried
fish, migas (like breadcrumbs
made from semolina flour), marinated
dogfish, octopus, paella, "fideos
aparte" (noodles in fish
sauce), seafood salad, salt
cod puffs, small prawn crispy
omelette, whitebait in vinegar,
etc.
Poniente
Beach ROUTE. There are
many beach bars and restaurants
where it is typical to order
paella or some "migas"
with fried fish.
There
are also other famous bars located
in other areas of the town such
as La Nube, in the Camino de
las Cañas Street, and
El Paso, just behind the bus
station.
